We've all read the articles, and heard the stories of dehydration. For some reason, the majority of people still continue to go without the proper amount of water everyday. Whether you're out in the sun, a busy out and about parent, putting lots of gym time in, or none of the above; you need to drink water. The more the merrier!

Increasing your daily water intake can work wonders for your mind and body. Joe Leech and Jillian Kubala of the Healthline online publication outline seven benefits of drinking enough water everyday. The general consensus is that it does not have to be eight- 8oz glasses a day for everyone. But again, the more the merrier. Drinking the proper amount of water can result in higher energy levels, which can manifest in physical performance and brain function. It also can help aid or prevent health concerns such as headaches, migraines, constipation, kidney stones, and even hangovers.

In something like hydration, the question might not be why, but more so how. Here are helpful tips and tricks to hopefully increase that h2o intake!

Make It Fun!

One of my favorite things to do while I'm working from home or just piddling around, is to get a big pretty wine glass and fill it with chilled water. Trust me, it holds more than you realize. Add in a fun straw and you've got yourself a party. It feels fancy and special!

Keep It Cool

A lot of people have a strong preference for water temperature. Another helpful vessel is some sort of stainless steel bottle, or tumbler. These usually maintain the temperature that you initially input, which is essential when you loathe warm or icy water.

When Life Gives You Lemons

Adding any sort of citrus to your water can increase its benefits tenfold. For one, drinking it goes by way faster, thus promoting hydration! Healthline also has great things to say about lemon water. In short: it aids in digestion, improves skin health, increases vitamin C intake (which has a whole plethora of benefits), and can even support weight loss. Natalie Olsen and Annette McDermott also give their best tips on how to properly prepare this magic drink.

Pat Yourself on the Back

Just like with anything, setting and achieving goals greatly increases productivity and satisfaction. Start with a small amount of water that's slightly greater than what you would typically drink. Once you finish that, allow yourself to indulge in something you consider a treat. Another approach is to use water as a boundary. Perhaps you're guilty of drinking far too much coffee in the morning. Set a precedent to finish two glasses of water before letting yourself pour another cup of coffee. Same could be said for alcohol or soda.

Hopefully this sheds some light on the ever important topic of hydration. Even though summer is coming to a close and things will start cooling down, water intake should remain consistent!
