We've all been there. It's 7pm, you ate dinner at 5:30pm and you're realizing it wasn't filling enough. BUT you're out of bites!!! (Cue noises of grumbling bellies)
So what should you do when the munchies hit?
Capitalize on Zero Bite Foods
The zero bite foods available to you will vary based on the Healthi program you choose. There are countless resources online that give you lists of the zero bite foods for each program including the Healthi Participants Facebook group. Don't feel bad stuffing your face with them if you need help getting through the day, they are free for a reason!
You'll find creative ways to use free foods to make yummy treats for yourself. On my Sugar Smart program, sugar free jello and fat free Redi-Whip are zero points. Put them together, voila! Yummy late night snackin' success!
Another way I battle hunger is by staying hydrated. Drinking 8oz of water before every meal or snack (or when the late night munchies hit) will do wonders for curbing your appetite and keeping your system running smoothly.
Zero Calorie Sparkling Water
In addition to meeting my water goal (with water), I am also a huge fan of naturally flavored sparkling water. The key is finding one that is not only zero calories but also zero sodium and zero sugar. Watch out for brands that include artificial sweeteners if you're sensitive to those. I love La Croix and Target's store brand (Good & Gather). Target carries flavors like Coconut & Pineapple, Strawberry Mango, and Ginger Peach. YUM!! Drinking one of these helps curb my hunger and also makes me feel like I'm having a treat.
I hope these tips help you stay on track!
